Kara Weimer - Yoga & Breath Coach, Bodyworker 707.235.1413,
A lifelong dancer, I began my healing arts and yogic endeavors over 22 years ago.
About two years after graduating from college - confused, lost, empty and full of self hatred, I hit a really dark place. Coming out of this darkness I started to experience an other worldly presence and a deep inquiry into myself and a desire to go inward. I now see this as a spiritual emergence that was necessary to bring me into a more evolved, conscious, and spiritually driven life.
On a whim, I moved to the bay area from the east coast to attend massage therapy school. Landing in the bay area was a truly magical experience that led me on a journey to healing, seeking and yearning for the Divine. Since then I have dedicated my life to continual study and exploration in consciousness and the healing arts.
My studies include modern yoga practices including the Baptiste Method (Magaña and Walt) - Ashtanga Vinyasa - modern vinyasa, and ancient Himalayan yogic/meditation practices including Vinyasa Krama and the Himalayan Kriya System of meditation, yoga and vedic philosophy, ayurveda and conscious high pranic living based on the soli-lunar calendar, bhakti yoga, yoga nidra, mindfulness, energy healing, middle eastern dance, spiritual movement, massage and other healing modalities. My insatiable thirst led me to India, ashrams, Himalayan Masters, and initiation into ancient esoteric pranayama and solar meditation practices of the Nath Yogis including Kriya Yoga and Kriya Vinyasa.
I attended Alive and Well Institute of Conscious Bodywork for my initial bodywork certification and received additional training at other schools through the years - with studies in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, Thai Massage, Structural Foot Balancing, Ayurvedic Shirodhara Balancing and Reiki. My sessions are grounded, intuitive, thorough and detailed using a combination of techniques catered to the individual.
My teaching is focused in offering the holistic spectrum of classical yoga including vinyasa krama (The Himalayan Vinyasa Krama system that Krishnamacharya taught Srivatsa Ramaswami for over 33 years and Yoga Vinyasa Krama of the Hansa Yoga tradition - based in yoga philosophy), pranayama, meditation, yoga nidra and yogic lifestyle. My main VK influences are Srivastsa Ramaswami and one on one mentoring with Pam Johnson - and informed through my studies with my Satguru, His Holiness Swami Vidyadhishananda, an ordained Himalayan Monk, Kriya Yogi and Vedic/Sanskrit scholar.
The guided sessions for experiencing yoga nidra use the work of Swami Satyananda and Dr. Siva-Marc Halpern (who teaches at many International Sivananda Centers).
I offer breath centered yogasana/pranayama and meditation classes - beginning to advanced, senior and chair yoga, yoga for the underserved, yoga at work and trauma sensitive yoga for the at risk communities.
I enjoy sharing the healing, therapeutic & spiritual benefits of traditional yogic science, using the breath as the guide for transformation and self empowerment. Following these wise words - "yoga is a superscience, it shouldn't be practiced casually".
I have been practicing bodywork since 1996 and teaching yoga and meditation since 2003.
